     Mr. and Mrs. White had different ideas about where to go that weekend. Mrs. White wanted to go
to Hainan to see her sister, but Mr. White did not like to go there. He wanted to go to Dalian.
     "Hainan is too hot in summer," Mr. White said.
      "I like swimming, but the water in Dalian is usually not warm enough ," Mrs. White  said.
     "Hainan's too far," said Mr. White. "We don't have enough time to drive there. It'll take us more than
two days."
     Just then, the phone rang. Mr. White answered the phone. It was Mr. White's mother. "Is that Jim
speaking? Please come in the shortest time. I need help. I'm calling from the hospital in Xi'an."
      That stopped their talking, and in no time they both went.

     Mrs. White was very fat. She weighed (重) 100 kilos, so she went to see a doctor. The doctor said,
"You need a diet (節(jié)食), Mrs. White, and I have a good way here." He gave Mrs. White a small book

two weeks."

Mrs. Thompson, a school teacher, told the children on the first day that she loved them all the same. But that was a lie. There in the front row was a little boy named Teddy Stoddard. He didn’t get along well with the other children and he always needed a bath. She did not like him.
Then Mrs. Thompson got to know that Teddy was a very good boy before the death of his mother. Mrs. Thompson was ashamed of herself. She felt even worse when, like all her other students, Teddy bought her a present, too. It was his mother’s perfume(香水).
