The Red Cross Society of China（RCSC）（中國紅十字會(huì)）has so far received 150 million yuan (18 million U.S. dollars) as donation (捐款) for tsunami-hit (遭受海嘯襲擊的) countries, reports from the RCSC said on January 14, 2005.

2.66 million U.S. dollars of the money were sent to Indonesia, Sri Lanka and Thailand soon after they were hit by the killer disaster（災(zāi)難）late last month. The rest of the money will be sent for rebuilding villages, schools and orphanages (homes for children who lost their parents) in the disaster areas, the reports said.

According to the reports, two RCSC’s rescue (營救) teams have arrived in Indonesia and Sri Lanka on Friday. A third team will go to Thailand early next week.

The RCSC will report how much money has been collected and the uses of the money on its website on time, the reports said.

On March 31, 2013, the Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health of Hong Kong and the Chinese National Health and Family Planning Commission notified(通知) the World Health Organization of three confirmed human cases of influenza A (H7N9) in Shanghai and Anhui. On April 2, the CHP confirmed four more cases in Jiangsu province.
The first reported death associated(與……有聯(lián)系) with H7N9 was an 87-year-old man who died on March 4. A second man, Wu Liangliang, aged 27, died on March 10. On April 3, Chinese government reported another death, bringing the number to three. On April 4, the number of reported cases was 14, with 5 deaths. On April 6, 2013, the Chinese Ministry of Health reported 18 positive cases, death toll still at 6. Two days later, positive cases rose to 24 and one death case from Shanghai brought the death toll to 7.
The World Health Organization reiterated(重申) there was still no evidence of human-to-human transmission(傳播) of the new strain of H7N9 bird flu.

Without new treatments, the W.H.O. says, the number of new cancer patients could reach 27 million a year by 2030. The number of deaths could reach 17 million a year.
A report in December said the number of men and women dying of cancer in the United States had dropped for the first time .The report in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute said the drop was mainly the result of fewer cases of lung（肺）, prostate（前列腺） and colorectal(結(jié)腸) cancer in men. In women, it resulted from fewer cases of breast and colorectal cancer.
The American Cancer Society says governments can do things to help stop the increase in cancer cases and deaths. One idea is to provide poor and developing nations with vaccines(疫苗) that help to stop some cancer-causing infections (感染). One example of a cancer-causing infection is human papillomavirus (乳頭瘤病毒). This virus(病毒) can cause cervical cancer in women.
Another suggestion is more support for cigarette-control programs. And the cancer society says health officials and governments should pay more in cancer research and early detection(檢測).
