Realize You Are Already Successful
Success is all around you and flows through you and the more you can welcome that into your life, the more you will start to feel it.
Being grateful for the tiniest successes in life will also help you to create more and more success. 5.The truth is that you are already successful and once you realize this, there is no stopping what you can do.
A. Know Your Intention.
B. Realize your dream.
C. When you believe in yourself, it fuels your creativity, your ambitions and your motivation to do things.
D. Success is the result of preparation, hard work and learning from failure.
E. For a truly successful life, your intention has to be rooted in your purpose, in your passions and in what feels good to you.
F. This is a powerful mindset shift and one that will help you to align (使結(jié)盟)with your ambitions and dreams.

Maybe ten-year-old Elizabeth put it best when she said to her father,“But,Dad,you can’t be healthy if you’re dead.”
Dad,in a hurry to get home before dark so he could go for a run,had forgotten to wear his safety belt—a mistake 75% of US population make every day.The big question is why.
There have been many myths about safety belts ever since their first appearance in cars some forty years ago.The following are three of the most common.
Myth Number One: It’s best to be “thrown clear” of a serious accident.
Truth: Sorry, but any accident serious enough to “throw you clear” is going to be serious enough to give you a very bad landing. And chances are you’ll have traveled through a windshield (擋風(fēng)玻璃)or door to do it.Studies show that chances of dying after a car accident are twenty-five times in cases where people are “thrown clear”.
Myth Number Two: Safety-belts “trap” people in cars that are burning or sinking in water.
Truth: Sorry again, but studies show that people knocked unconscious (昏迷) due to not wearing safety belts have a greater chance of dying in these accidents.People wearing safety belts are usually protected to the point of having a clear head to free themselves from such dangerous situation, not to be trapped in them.
Myth Number Three: Safety belts aren’t needed at speeds of less than 30 miles per hour (mph).
Truth: When two cars traveling at 30 mph hit each other,an unbelted driver would meet the windshield with a force equal to diving head first into the ground from a height of 10 metres.

Do you want to see the effects of global warming? Then head north. Recent studies indicate that the North Pole could be underwater during the summer in less than 10 years, instead of coated in thick sea ice. But seeing the Arctic terrain (地帶) up close isn’t easy, unless you’re handy with a dogsled. Steger is going to take all of us there.

"To educate a girl is to educate a thousand people," says Maimouna Samaké, a mother of six children(including five girls). "If you put one seed(種子) in the ground and rain comes, it will grow to produce many seeds."
Samaké, one of 2,000 residents, lives in a small village, Sounkala, in one of the world’s poorest countries. Now she has a chance to see this wish come true thanks to build On, an American non-profit organization that is building a school in her community.
For 17 years, build On has been sending American high school students overseas to create schools in places where literacy(文化)and formal education are usually out of reach. The organization has built about 300 schools in Mali, Malawi, Nepal, Senegal, Nicaragua and Haiti. Its goal is to get young Americans in mostly urban(城市) areas to get involved in education. At the same time it can bring literacy to children and adults in poor villages in the developing world.
Sounkala’s school only has about 70 children; mud floors, poor lighting, few desks and an absence of books mean that the school is not the most ideal learning environment. Therefore they certainly could use build On’s help.
Samaké hasn’t been to school, but she wants a better future for her five daughters, including Ramatou, 12, and Mariam, 10. "When a woman attends school, she will teach what she learns to her children," said Ramatou, who wants to become a doctor. "She will also know how to take better care of her family."
Build On tries to build schools for grades one to three. If things go well over those three years, they return to help build another school for grades four to six, and then set up evening adult literacy classes.
Ramatou and Mariam will not learn inside the walls of build On school since they are already in the sixth grade, but Samaké hopes that they will be able to attend evening classes to continue learning.

To my Charlie on his wedding day—
I know you think these notes are silly. I have watched you wear a long face over the years when I give them to you. But understand that sometimes I want to tell you something and I want to get it just right. Putting it down on paper helps me do that. I wish I had been a better writer. I wish I had gone to college. If I had, I think I would have studied English and maybe my vocabulary would have improved. So many times I feel I am using the same words over and over. Like a woman wearing the same dress every day. So boring!
What I want to say to you, Charley, is you are marrying a wonderful girl. I think of Catherine in many ways like I think of Roberta. Like a daughter. She is sweet and patient. You should be the same with her, Charley.
Here is what you are going to find out about marriage: you have to work at it together. And you have to love three things. You have to love
1) Each other.
2) Your children (when you have some).
3) Your marriage.
What I mean by that last one is, there may be times that you fight, and sometimes you and Catherine won’t even like each other. But those are the times you have to love your marriage. It’s like a third party. Look at your wedding photos. Look at any memories you’ve made. And if you believe in those memories, they will pull you back together.
I’m very proud of you today, Charley. I am putting this in your tuxedo pocket because I know how you lose things.
I love you every day!
Mom

Cheating is nothing new. But today, the Administrative Department for Education finds that examples of academic dishonesty on the part of students have become more frequent—and are less likely to be punished--than in the past. Cheating appears to have gained acceptance among good and poor students alike.
Why is student cheating on the rise? No one really knows. Some blame the trend on a general loosening of moral values among today’s youth. Others have attributed (歸因于) increased cheating to the fact that today’s youth are far more practical than their idealistic ancestors. Whereas in the late sixties and early seventies, students were filled with visions about changing the world, today’s students feel great pressure to survive and succeed. In interviews with students at high schools and colleges around the country, both young men and women said that cheating had become easy. Some suggested they did it out of hate for teachers they didn’t respect. Others looked at it as a game. Only if they were caught, some said, would they feel guilty. “People are com-petitive ,” said a second-year college student named Anna, from Chicago. “There is a potential fear. If you don’t do well, your life is going to be ruined. The pressure is not only from parents and friends but from yourself. To achieve. To succeed. It’s almost as though we have to surpass people to achieve our own goals. ”
Edward Wynne, editor of a magazine blames the rise in academic dishonesty in the schools. He claims that administrators and teachers have been too hesitant to take action. Dwight Huber, chairman of the English Department at Amarillo sees the matter differently, blaming the rise in cheating on the way students evaluated. “I would cheat if I felt I was being cheated ,” Mr Huber said. He feels that as long as teachers give short-answer tests rather than essay questions and rate students by the number of facts they can memorize rather than by how well they can combine and process information, students will try to beat the system. “The concept of cheating is based on the false belief that the system is legal and there is something wrong with the individuals who’re doing it ,”he said, “that’s too easy an answer. We’ve got to start looking at the system. ”
( ) 1. Educators are finding that students who cheat
A. have poor academic records
B. use the information in late years
C. can be academically weak or strong
D. are more likely to be punished than before
( ) 2. Which of the following statements reflects the in formation in the passage?
A. The pressure students faced with is partly the reason causing the student cheating.
B. Only the educational system and administrators are to blame for the rise in the cheating.
C. The 1960s’ visions of changing the world helped students never make mistakes.
D. Punishment for cheaters has always been severe in this country.
( ) 3. The underlined words “the individuals”in the last paragraph refer to
A. students who practise cheating
B. parents who put pressure on their children
C. school administrators who approve of short-answer tests
D. teachers who are too hesitant to take action against cheating
( ) 4. The author probably would agree with the point of view that .
A. students who cheat should be driven out of school
B. parents alone must take responsibility for the rise in student cheating
C. the educational system is sound, and students must follow every rule
D. the educational system in this country would benefit from a thorough evaluation
