6.Life can be so wonderful,full of adventure and joy.It can also be full of challenges,setbacks and heartbreaks.Whatever our circumstances(境況),we generally still have dreams,hopes and desires-that little something more we want for ourselves and our loved ones.Yet knowing we can have more can also create a problem,because when we go to change the way we do things,up come the old patterns and pitfalls(陷阱) that stopped us from seeking what we wanted in the first place.
This tension(矛盾) between what we feel we can have and what we're seemingly able to have is the niggling(煩人的) suffering,the anxiety we feel.This is where we usually think it's easier to just give up.But we're never meant to let go of the part of us that knows we can have more.The intelligence behind that knowing is us-the real us.It's the part that believes in life and its possibilities.If you drop that,you begin to feel a little"dead"inside because you're dropping"you".
So,if we have this capability but somehow life seems to keep us stuck, how do we break these patterns?
Decide on a new course and make one decision at a time.This is good advice for a new adventure or just getting through today's challenges.
While,deep down,we know we can do it,our mind-or the minds of those close to us-usually says we can't.That isn't a reason to stop,it's just the mind,that little man or woman on your shoulder,trying to talk you out of something again.It has done it many times before.It's all about starting simple and doing it now.
Decide and act before overthinking.When you do this you may feel a little,or large,release from the jail of your mind and you'll be on your way.
27.It can be inferred from the first two paragraphs that we shouldC.
A.slow down and live a simple life
B.be careful when we choose to change
C.stick to our dreams under any circumstances
D.be satisfied with what we already have
28.What is the key to breaking the old patterns?B
A.To focus on every detail.
B.To decide and take immediate action.
C.To listen to those close to us.
D.To think twice before we act.
29.Which of the following best explains the underlined part in the last paragraph?C
A.Escape from your punishment.
B.Realization of your dreams.
C.Freedom from your tension.
D.Reduction(減少) of your expectations.
30.What does the author intend to tell us?A
A.It's easier than we think to get what we want.
B.It's important to learn to accept sufferings in life.
C.It's impractical to change our way of thinking.
D.It's harder than we expect to follow a new course.

Whatever our circumstances,we generally still have dreams,hopes and desires"可知,不管在什么情況下,我們仍然有夢想和希望,以及第二段最后一句話"If you drop that,you begin to feel a little‘dead'inside because you're dropping‘you'."
Decide on a new course and make one decision at a time.可以知道為了打破舊格局,需要決定一個新目標并且立刻做出決定.故選B
29.C 句意理解題.根據(jù)劃線句子可知其本意是逃出你內心的牢籠.結合上文中Decide and act before overthinking在過多思考之前快速決定和行動可以推測這個劃線句子是指要從過多考慮的焦慮中解放自己.

6.On January 31,1978,three young boys were skating on the ice-covered playing field of the Montvale Memorial Elementary School in Montvale,New Jersey.Eddie Hargrove, his brother Michael, and their friend John Cummings watched as a flying object flew nearer. It was square with rounded corners and it had a yellow light at each corner and a light underneath.
The three boys quickly realized that they were seeing something strange. They became frightened an d ran to the dugout(休息室) by the field.By then, the object had disappeared. Before they could discuss what had happened, they noticed what looked like a man in a yellow jogging suit across the road from the field.Michael thought it was a neighbor who often jogged in the evening.
"Mr.Johnson,"Michael called to the man,"did you see that UFO?"
Immediately the man turned toward the boys, and Michael's tongue was frozen.Just then, ten other creatures, all in yellow jogging suits, joined him. Each one was bald(禿頭) and had large, dark, square places where his eyes should have been; their skin was light yellow.
"Have you heard of Hitler's army?"John later said."You know how they walked kind of stiff(僵硬地),with their arms straight?Well, that's…h(huán)ow they looked."
Some of them were walking back and forth, while others headed down a nearby road. Finally they walked through the back wall of a building and disappeared completely. Now everything was normal again-almost.
Could they have been joggers?Officer Pelsang of the Montvale Police Department said he had never seen more than two people jogging together in Montvale and never after dark.
Three UFO investigators decided to study the case. The three men discovered that the Department of Public Works (DPW) was opposite the school's playing field and near where the boys first saw the yellow-suited aliens and that the DPW workers wore yellow uniforms in bad weather. However,Lewis Bradley of the DPW stated that all workers had gone home at 4:30 p.m.on the day in question and that none were wearing yellow uniforms that day.
Did the boys see a UFO?Officer Pelsang said,"Twelve-year old boys don't call the police unless they're really upset about something."However,no matter what the investigators wanted to believe, they could not prove that anything had happened. As they wrote in their final report,"The story is interesting but, alas, the amount of value from a case of this kind…is doubtful."

There is growing dissatisfaction toward rich people, according to a new online poll.

1.Emily and her boyfriend had just had a fight.She felt alone and hopeless.Then she went into the kitchen and grabbed what she needed before going back up to her room quietly.She switched on the TV and started eating…and eating…for hours,until it was all gone.
What Emily didn't know at the time was that she was suffering from an illness called binge-eating disorder(BED)(暴飲暴食).
For years,Emily didn't tell anyone what she was doing.She felt ashamed,alone,and out of control.Why don't famous people confess (承認) to BED,as they do to anorexia?It's simple:There's a stigma(污名)involved."Overeating is seen as very bad,but dieting to be skinny is seen as positive and even associated with determination,"says Charles Sophy,a doctor in Beverly Hills,California.
"Some parents or friends may look at a teen with BED and think,'Oh,a good diet and some will-power will do the trick.'But that's not true,"says Dr.Ovidio Bermudez,a baby doctor at the Eating Recovery Center in Denver."Eating disorders are real physical and mental health issues; it's not about willpower."The focus in treating BED shouldn't be on weight,because as with all eating disorders,the behaviors with food are a symptom of something deeper.
Like most other diseases,genetics may play a big part in who gets BED and who doesn't.If you have a close relative with an eating disorder,that means you're more likely to develop an eating disorder of your own.
Besides,many people with BED have tried at some point or another to control it by going on a diet,but paying more attention to food doesn't help.And it might even make things worse,like it did for Carla,who's 15now and is recovering from BED."My parents would always tease me about my weight,so when I was 14,I went on a very restrictive diet,"she says.When you can't have something,you only want it more,so every time Carla would have a bite of something that wasn't allowed on her strict diet.She would quickly lose control and binge (狂歡).
28.What does the underlined word"anorexia"in Paragraph 3mean?C
A.Eating too much.
B.Eating junk food.
C.Loss of the wish to eat.
D.Always eating in a hurry.
29.According to Dr.Ovidio Bermudez,people with BEDD.
A.just need a lot of willpower
B.can recover with a good diet
C.can recover with the help of others
D.need to deal with their health problems
30.What can we learn from Carla's story?C
A.BED is an incurable disease.
B.BED has something to do with genes.
C.Going on a diet won't help BED patients.
D.BED patients should pay attention to their food.
