Small drones(無人機(jī))can help carry packages to your home. For two years, Google has been working hard in their secret research lab. They have made great progress. Their latest project is called Project Wing. Project Wing is Google’s invention of a drone delivery service. It is half plane and half helicopter(直升機(jī))and is slightly bigger than a seagull. It can deliver packages to customers’ doors.
The first drone test was made on a farm in Warwick, Australia. It sent sweets and dog treats to a farmer. The drone flew to the farm, hovered(盤旋), and released the package with a wire. Delivery is here!
The best thing about drone delivery services is that delivery times will be greatly cut down. You’ll be able to order online in the morning. And by noon, the delivery drone will deliver you package.
Throughout history, there have been a series of inventions that have helped people move things around, said Astro Teller, lead scientist of Google Wing, to CNN. Teller thinks Google drones will be the next big step in the series.
Interestingly, drones are not that young. The USA has been using armed(武裝)drones since 2002. But drones may also get another use. Film companies have asked to use drones to shoot videos from the sky.
Google’s delivery drones won’t be able to fly to customers any time soon. However, Google has proved that drone delivery is possible. And with Amazon announcing their drone delivery service last year, the heat is on to make safe and suitable drones to fly the skies for customers.

Many expressions that we use in American English come from novels. Today we will look at some of them from Lewis Carroll’s famous novel “Alice in Wonderland” in detail.
The story is about a young girl falling down a rabbit hole. When she finally lands, she finds herself in a strange world and meets some strange characters.
The first character Alice meets is the White Rabbit, who runs past her and says some strange words. Alice runs after him, and that is where her adventures begin.
In English, chasing a white rabbit means chasing an impossible clue and finding yourself in a misleading situation.
Then, as she runs after the rabbit, she falls down the rabbit hole into Wonderland.
To fall down the rabbit hole can mean to enter a situation which makes people feel puzzled. However, usually we use this expression to mean we get interested in something to the point of distractions(分神). It often happens by accident and is about something not that meaningful.
Later in the story, Alice meets the March Hare and the Hatter at a crazy tea party. Hares have long been thought to behave excitedly in March, which is their mating(交配)season. Scientifically, this may not be true. But to be mad as a March Hare means that someone is completely mad, or crazy. The expression mad as a Hatter also means to be completely crazy. Of the two, mad as a Hatter is more common.
Near the end of the story, Alice meets the Queen of Hearts. A woman who is called a Queen of Hearts likes controlling others and always tries to control everything and everyone around her.
1.Which of the following situations best fits the expression “to fall down a rabbit hole”?
A.When Jack was sitting in the study, he got bored with the homework and felt sleepy.
B.When Sue turned On the TV, she chose to watch her favourite programme as usual.
C.When Jim was looking for a sport book online, he lost himself in reports on superstars.
D.When Lily was thinking about how to solve a math problem, she came up with a good idea.
2.According to the passage, the expression “to be mad as a March Hare” .
A.describes how hares behave in March
B.shows hares’ characteristics in a funny way
C.is used more often than the expression mad as a Hatter
D.has the same meaning as the expression mad as a Hatter
3.Which of the following characters wants others to obey his or her orders in every situation?
A.Alice. B.The March Hare. C.The Hatter. D.The Queen of Hearts.
4.The writer mainly wants to ________in this passage.
A.introduce a famous novel and its language style
B.introduce a famous writer Lewis Carroll and his novels
C.explain some English expressions from a famous novel
D.explain why many expressions in English come from novels

Body language sometimes speaks louder than words. Body language can tell you whether someone is interested or not, and whether someone is happy to see you or not. One of the most important things that body language can tell, however, is whether a person is lying or not. Here’s how you can determine whether someone is telling you the truth or not, based on body language alone.
The eyes are said to be the windows of the soul and one of the things that the little windows will show you is whether someone is honest or not. When you talk to people, you should look at their eyes and judge whether they are turning away from your close watch or not. People are usually subconsciously(潛意識(shí)地) uncomfortable when lying to the person that they are talking to. Besides lying, eyes that have a lot of movement usually show that the person is about to lie or that the person has told a lie.
People who lie often touch their noses and other parts of their faces. If you notice that your partner or someone talking to you unconsciously touches his nose, this probably means that he is lying. The reason why people touch their faces when they lie is that lying usually leads to an increase in blood circulation, and then an itch(癢) in the small blood vessels(血管)in the nose or in the cheeks will appear.
Another common body language suggestion that someone is lying is when a person crosses his arms. If the person crosses the arms, it means that the person is both being defensive and shutting himself off. People who are telling the truth will usually make an open gesture(姿態(tài)). They put the arms on the side to show that they are not hiding anything. Subconsciously, however, people will cross their arms when they are lying.
If you plan to use body language to determine whether someone is lying or not, make sure that you are focused and that you are looking in the face and the person’s body all at the same time.
