If you think you're too shy and want to be a little bit braver, try the following. You can make it.
There's no need to hide it. When they get to know you are a shy kid, they'll understand you better. This also helps you feel freer in talks.
When you smile, people think you are friendly and easy to talk to. Remember that other people have feelings too and most people will stay away from an angry-looking face.
If you find it hard to start talks, say something nice about people around you. Think about how great you feel when someone says something good to you. Doesn't it make you want to keep talking to that person?

It was in 1886 that John Pemberton, a druggist in America, invented a new type of sweet liquid (液體), using coca leaves, sugar and cola nuts, plus a few other secret ingredients! Pemberton sold it as a medicine. And with its coca, he thought it must have made people feel good! However, Pemberton’s medicine was not very successful, so he sold his secret formula (配方) to another druggist, Asa Candler. Candler was interested in it because he thought that Pemberton’s “medicine” would be much better if being mixed with soda.
Candler was the man who really invented the drink Coca-Cola. At first he sold it in his drugstore. Then he began selling it to other drugstores, who used it with their soda fountains. Candler also advertised his new drink, and soon people love it. Before long some businessmen expected to sell it in bottles. Then the famous bottle was designed in 1916.
During the First World War, American soldiers in Europe began asking for Coca-Cola, so the company began to export (出口) to Europe. Today, it is made in countries all over the world and is the world’s most popular drink.

Jeanne Johnson lives near the ocean (海洋) in the USA. She is worried about the danger of tsunamis (海嘯), so she bought a tsunami escape pod (逃生艙).

“The pod is really not comfortable,” said Jeanne. “But it’s better than nothing. I don’t think too much about tsunamis now. I can sleep well at night.”
