Ladies and Gentlemen, thank you. Well, ni-hao. (Laughter) It is such a pleasure and an honor to be here with all of you at this great university, so thank you so much for having me. I’m here today because I know that our future depends on connections like these among young people like you across the world.
That’s why when my husband and I travel abroad, we don’t just visit palaces and parliaments(國會) and meet with heads of countries. We also come to schools like this one to meet with students like you, because we believe that relationships between countries aren’t just about relationships between governments or leaders — they’re about relationships between people, particularly young people. So we view study abroad programs not just as an educational chance for students, but also as an active part of America’s foreign policy(政策).
Through the wonders of modern technology, our world is more connected than ever before. Ideas can cross oceans with the click of a mouse. Companies can do business andcompetewith companies across the world. And we can text, email, skype with people in the world.
So studying abroad isn’t just a fun way to spend a time of learning; it is quickly becoming the key to success in our times. Because getting ahead in today’s workplaces isn’t just about getting good grades or test scores in school, which are important. It’s also about having real experience with the world beyond your borders — experience with languages, cultures and societies very different from your own. Or, as the Chinese saying goes: “It is better to travel ten thousand miles than to read ten thousand books.”

You know, having a dangerous medical situation will happen during all of our lives. What I want to talk about is how to stop a bleeding nose.
The first step is to have the person sit quietly while you perform the steps of stopping the bleeding nose. Soft paper can be placed into the two holes at the end of your nose that is bleeding. Make sure that you don't place too much soft paper in, as you may not feel comfortable when you move the soft paper away from the holes in the nose.
Then hold your nose together between your thumb and finger at the cartilage(軟骨)area where the bridge of the nose is hard. That will make less blood move to the holes in the nose. After five minutes to twenty minutes, the nosebleed should come to a stop. After the nosebleed stops, the soft paper can be moved away. Another way that commonly works is to place a piece of ice under the lip between the gum(牙齦)and the lip, as this will reduce the size of the blood vessels(血管)leading to the nose. If it is too late to take any action, the head should be raised where blood can be moved from the hole in the nose to the stomach area.
I'm Joe Bruni. Stay safe, and come to see me if you are in trouble with healthy problems.
根據短文內容,回答下列問題。
1.What is the first step to stop a bleeding nose?
2.Which part of the nose should be held tightly(緊緊地)?
3.When will the nosebleed come to a stop?
4.What else can you do to stop a bleeding nose?
5.What does Joe Bruni probably do?
