The Mayos, two young brothers named Will and Charlie Mayo lived in Rochester, Minnesota. Both of them became doctors after their graduation from medical school.
One summer day on their way back home, the sky was growing dark. Everything was strangely quiet. “Look!” Will pointed. “A tornado(龍卷風(fēng))!” Luckily, they were not hurt. But many people got injured. As soon as possible, the Mayos turned the town hall into an emergency hospital. They helped the injured people as much as they could.
After the tornado ended, the brothers realized that there were things they didn't know. “ Why don't you and I take turns traveling?” said Will to Charlie. “One of us can stay and look after our patients. The other can visit the best hospitals and doctors in the world. That way we can keep learning and be better doctors.”
From that time on, the Mayos traveled the world, learning about medicine in turn. Soon they became well known around their area. They published over 1, 000 papers in medical magazines. Even though they were successful, they were never interested in honor(榮譽(yù)). Neither one thought he was more important than his brother. Whenever one of them was chosen for an honor, he would accept the honor with the same four words, “My brother and 1....”.
“One nice thing about sharing knowledge,” Charlie once said, “is that after you give it to someone else, you still have it!” If you do choose to give something to someone else, or accept what others give to you, you may discover that sharing makes you feel happy, just as the Mayo brothers did.
1.Which is true about the Mayos?
A.They are doctors. B.They graduated from art school.
C.They look quiet and strange. D.They were injured in the tornado.
2.After the tornado ended, the Mayos realized that ______.
A.they had to go back to university B.they should travel and have fun
C.they should go on further learning D.they had to set up their own hospital
3.When one of the Mayos accepts an honor, he may say, “My brother and I ______.”
A.are well known B.own it together C.don't honor it D.care about it
4.What does the passage mainly tell us?
A.People have to learn to be a good doctor.
B.The Mayos were well known in their area.
C.Sharing makes people happier and closer.
D.The Mayos met a tornado on their way back home.

Have you ever heard of a rattlesnake? It is a poisonous (有毒的) American snake. When it is angry or afraid, it makes a noise like a rattle with its tail. It’s very scary. But Heather Ramirez and her husband, from California, in the United States, make a living in an unusual way. They are self-employed (自雇的) snake catchers! They catch snakes, especially rattlesnakes which have gone indoors, and return them to the wild.
Heather describes her work as “protecting people from rattlesnakes — and protecting rattlesnakes from people!” In the area where they live, rattlesnakes often come face to face with people. They are found in stores, offices, houses and gardens. Heather explains that it’s not the snakes that are moving into places where people live, but it’s the other way round. The snakes lived in these places first and then the people built houses.
Most people who see a rattlesnake are feared. If you keep your distance, however, the snake won’t bite (咬) you. In twelve years as a snake catcher, Heather has never touched a snake. She doesn’t take the risk. She picks up the snakes with a special tool. This doesn’t hurtthem, but it keeps them at a safe distance so that they can’t bite her.
Heather and her husband are very busy because they are never off duty. Catching snakes is a full-time job and they don’t often have a day off. People can get to them at any time of the day or night. Not everyone can do this job, but Heather doesn’t want to do anything else. “I just love my job,” she says.
